I’m Evan Kung, and I’m proud to be the fifth Canadian angler to qualify for the Bassmaster Elite Series. Fishing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up spending countless hours on the water with my dad, competing together in local tournaments across Ontario and even travelling to the U.S. for team championships.

Those early experiences taught me not only how to fish, but also how to dream big. For a long time, I never imagined that competing at the highest level of professional bass fishing could actually be possible.

That changed in 2023, when I decided to take a leap of faith and sign up for the Bassmaster Opens. I had little experience fishing in the U.S., but a lifelong passion and a belief that I could learn and compete.

It’s no easy road for Canadians to reach the Elite Series; the travel, logistics, and competition make it one of the toughest challenges in the sport. But after just two seasons, I earned my qualification, turning a dream I’ve had since childhood into reality.

Now, as I enter my second year on the Bassmaster Elite Series, I’m grateful for the journey, the support of my family, and the chance to represent Canada on one of the biggest stages in bass fishing. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where the next cast takes me.
